Italy Weddings: Engagement Shoot
Magda & Pietro
Cool. That is probably the last word I would use to describe myself. But it’s the first I would use to describe Magda and Pietro.
This is the first shoot from the Secret Retreat, an engagement shoot in the town where we were staying in Santa Maria di Castellabate.
Magda and Pietro appeared for their shoot to a crowd of women photographers whooping and clapping. They are engaged to be married next year and let us wander through the streets with them, without batting an eyelid.
What. a. couple.
Magda is the kind of cool I’ve love to be and will never achieve: gorgeous petite tanned limbs and honey hair. She also has the ability to wear killer heels and walk round in them all day in ridiculous heat, probably not gaining a single blister. For that alone I’m envious. But she is sweet with a massive smile.
Pietro is a gravely voiced rocker who is ice cool. The kind of cool that means he can wear his shades long into the evening without the need to take them off, while singing the bass line to ‘Uptown Funk’. His band provided us with fabulous music the following evening for our party. That particular night was when I decided that the dance floor was mine during their rendition of the Johnny Cash song; Folsom Prison Blues (told you cool was not my strong point).
They’re in love. Unabashed Italian love. The couldn’t give a crap who’s looking love. I hope that comes across in these images. They whispered and giggled and got lost in each other and that was probably the coolest thing about that afternoon.
Sometimes you need that don’t you? When the every day takes over you need to lose yourself; whether that’s in the person that you love, dancing to Johnny Cash or [substitute with whatever it is you love]. That was what the Secret Retreat was about really. Lose yourself to find yourself again. Xx
